Reading to children of all ages is SO important!  In fact, I believe it is the most important thing you as a parent can do to help your child succeed academically.

Jim Trelease, author of The Read-Aloud Handbook said it like this...

“People would stand in line for days and pay hundreds of dollars if there were a pill that could do everything for a child that reading aloud does.

It expands their interest in books, vocabulary, comprehension, grammar, and attention span.

Simply put, it’s a free ‘oral vaccine’ for literacy.”

An excellent literacy program for young children includes all three types of reading.

• Reading TO children (Read-alouds)
• Reading WITH children (Shared Reading)
• Reading BY children (Guided/Independent Reading)

You guessed it!  Pasitos includes all three.  (If you have no clue what things like "shared reading" mean, don't worry.  hehe  We will teach you how to do all three types of reading with your children.)

How does Story Time work?

This is where most of the thematic fun happens in Pasitos!

Story Time always starts with a song and a story.  After that children will work on story-based literacy and art activities. 

Each unit includes:

• Spanish song
• Bilingual song
• Mini-Book
• Keepsake handprint
• Art project like directed drawing or Papelitos cut-paper craft
• Snack ideas
• Sensory ideas
• and more!

We will also walk you through how to store all of these special memories in a Pasitos Portfolio binder.  This will be a treasured keepsake of your child's Preschool year!

Which stories are used in Pasitos?

In Week 1 of each unit, children read a classic children's story and create their own mini-book to read along with it.

In Week 2, it's your child's turn to lead storytime with their mini-books!  Starting in Unit 3, they will also add Super Sentences to the mix.

We have carefully selected classic stories that are:

• Available in English and Spanish
• Easy to locate and purchase
• Affordable
• Engaging
• Not too complicated for language learners

We have also included videos of the story being read in both English and Spanish. If you don't feel comfortable reading in a language, or have trouble locating the books where you live, you can always use the video option.
